A Few Questions for Ed!

You may have had the chance to meet Ed Covert, Camp Redwood Glen's Director during many of our divisional events throughout the fall and winter, working tirelessly to make Camp Redwood Glen an awesome place to be.

Ed (the third) has had a great impact on this ministry that is so essential to The Salvation Army. We have picked his brain to find out his hope for camping ministry, his love for Camp Redwood Glen, and what makes him tick!

GSY: How many years have you worked in camp ministries?
Ed: 37

GSY: What do you love about it?
Ed: The opportunity to see God at work in the lives of people as he uses the beauty of this setting and the community of people that call it home (whether for a weekend, a summer or year round) for His good purpose.

GSY: What is your favorite weekend activity?
Ed: Time spent with my family surfing, watching my daughters play soccer, fly fishing, and hanging out with Maryann (my wife).

GSY: What is your favorite thing about CRG's campgrounds?
Ed: There is a wonderful presence here. Sometimes late at night, on a clear night, a gentle breeze will pass through and it's like the breath of God against my face. I think at times I may even have heard a still small voice saying "all is well".

GSY: What song has been stuck in your head lately?
Ed: Something about Seattle by Owl City...because that's all I heart at home these days!

GSY: What city did you grow up in?
Ed: My folks are Officer's so I lived in a lot of cities. Camp has always been the place that I did the most growing up.

GSY: What is your fondest memory of this past summer at Camp RWG?
Ed: Seeing the staff reach out to the children with an unconditional love that could only come from God. programmatically. It would have to be either Carlos' Ja Putcha skit or Chris' Korean Language/Tae Kwon Do skit.

GSY: Name one thing about yourself that most people don't know.
Ed: I am a HUGE Dodger fan!!!

And The Winner Is...

In October, 7 teams from across the division met at the San Francisco Kroc Center for an all day volleyball trounament and some fierce competition. Teams competing included Asian American Yerba Buena Corps, SF Lighthouse Corps, Santa Clara Crops, Clovis Corps, and Sunnyvale Grace korean Corps. Congratulations to the AAYB team who put up a great team effort for the win!
